If you’re in Denver looking to start your morning with a tasty breakfast or brunch, you should stop by one of our new favorites, Stowaway Kitchen. It is located in RiNo (our old neighborhood), which stands for River North – just northeast of downtown near the river. RiNo is an industrial area turned into a hip, trendy neighborhood where there’s a high number of 20- and 30-year olds. And lots of foodies! You’ll find a high concentration of breweries, restaurants, and bars in this area, plus lots of apartments and condos popping up left and right.
Stowaway Kitchen is bright, light, and airy, and if you stop in on a nice day, the garage-style door will be open, allowing the breeze to float inside. It is teeming with tropical plants, and has a full espresso bar with some of the best coffee in town. The food is fresh and so colorful, and for Jamie and me, the place is very reminiscent of the Australian vibes that we got all over our honeymoon in Bali.
We recommend starting off with a Bloody Mary, which comes with a fresh jicama spear, and the Colorful Colorado, a bowl with poached eggs, pickled radishes, kurobuta ham, asparagus, the best salt and vinegar hash, and a delicious spicy adobo sauce. It’s so beautiful on the plate too! I also enjoyed the Japanese Asa-Gohan – grilled salted salmon, avocado, carrot and ginger slaw, toasted nori, and a poached egg served over rice with black sesame seeds. Don’t forget to grab a coffee to go!
