Have you guys ever tried Frankly Organic Vodka? It’s an Austin, Texas-made 100% organic vodka with no artificial colors or flavors and no refined sugar, and it’s DANG good, so I recommend that you run, not walk to the liquor store and get you some immediately. (You can buy it outside of Texas, but not in every state. If you can’t get it locally, then I suggest that you fill out this form to request in your local liquor store, and then start planning a trip down here to Texas in the meantime to try some. No, this post is not sponsored by Frankly. We just love it that much and know that you will too.)
Anyway, in continuation with our custom-named favorite food and drinks, which you can read about here, I’m posting our most recent fave beverage – we’re calling it “Frankly We’re Ready to Get Back to Normal Life” Beer Cocktail. Back in February, my family attended a beer cocktail-making class at Total Wine to celebrate my birthday as well as my husband’s and brother’s. It was here that we fell completely in love with Frankly Strawberry Vodka, which was being featured in a beer cocktail, along with several other flavored Frankly vodkas. The Frankly Strawberry was our favorite, as it features strawberry and lemon in a very smooth but natural-tasting way that is not too sweet… we’ve been through a few bottles of it since then! It turns out that Frankly Strawberry mixed with beer (particularly wheat beers with a hint of citrus) is a delicious and refreshing combination! We used Revolver Blood & Honey – another Texas product, an American ale with notes of orange peel, honey, and spices. It goes perfectly with Frankly Strawberry! The best part is it’s extremely simple to make and really requires only two ingredients – beer and Frankly Strawberry vodka. We garnished it with lemon and thyme, but feel free to add fresh strawberries or whatever suits your fancy.
Frankly also makes other incredible flavored vodkas – an apple-ginger one (which would make such a tasty fall cocktail), a grapefruit-cinnamon one (which I loved because the sweetness of the cinnamon balances the grapefruit so well), and a pomegranate-lemon one. Try mixing with an IPA for a little more bitterness. Here’s the recipe for the beer cocktail that we’ve been sipping on frequently during the quarantine:
I will caution you – these sure go down easy, especially when sipped outside on a porch! I’ve also tried adding Frankly Strawberry to non-alcoholic beer, which sounds counter-productive, but it’s kind of a nice compromise on a night when you don’t want to drink a lot. It tastes good, too! This Frankly is liquid gold, I’m telling you! I hope these help get you through the rest of quarantine. Let me know what you think!
